It all started at school in year 11

I was in English class and we had to come up with a story. I had a funny idea for one, but my teacher told me to write something different. I could not think of anything else rather than the concept I had come up with, so I left the lesson with a blank page. Once I had gotten home, I couldn’t stop thinking about my story idea, and it kept developing in my brain. I decided to write it out in my notebook, which a peer had given to me not long before.

The story had become something different and better than I had originally planned.

I decided to create a book of it, just for fun,

Complete with illustrations.

I gave it to my mum to read, and she loved it.

She told me that I should try and get it published.

I was unsure about this, because I didn’t think that my work was good enough to be published and sold, and I wasn’t sure if people would be interested.

But my mother, having many connections with different people, posted my work onto Facebook, and not long after, a publishing group based in America, approached me. I wasn’t sure about publishing outside of the UK, so I decided to look for other companies as backup.

That is when I came across Pegasus publishers, based in Cambridge.

I sent off my manuscript and illustrations, and they  soon got back to me, requesting I make it longer, as it was too short a story. I soon realised this, and made some major changes.

I re-submitted, and a few months later, I received an email, accepting my work for publication. 

I was flabbergasted! I had no idea they would pick my work. 

They’ve now put me over to their production team, to bring my project to life!

 

I have always had a passion for creating character s, and with those characters, come stories.

I like to create characters that people, young and old, can relate to, to show them that their struggles are valid, and give them characters that speak to them, which they can find comfort in.

Guin, the long guinea pig, is no exception.

In such a judgment filled society, it is satisfying to know that no matter your quirks, your background, there will always be people that accept you, no matter what.
